Do bank holidays count towards holiday entitlement?

It depends on the contract. The 5.6-week statutory minimum (28 days for a 5-day week) can include bank holidays or sit on top of them — many UK small businesses give 20 days plus the 8 English bank holidays to hit exactly 28.

Part-time staff and bank holidays

A bank holiday only "costs" a part-timer a day if they'd normally work that weekday. To keep it fair, most employers pro-rate the bank-holiday allowance based on the working pattern rather than deducting each date as it comes up.

Leavo automatically applies the correct bank holidays to every employee based on their region — England & Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland — so requests, entitlement and payroll exports all line up.
